MOBILE FOOD DISTRIBUTION SERVES 231 LOCAL FAMILIES
Golden Harvest Food Bank partnered with Putnam Community Resource and Putnam Christian Outreach, Inc. (PCOI) to host a mobile food pantry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PCOI’s headquarters located at 151 Industrial Blvd, Eatonton, GA 31024. With the National Guard present, groceries were distributed to 231 families and 504 total individuals to assist in overcoming hunger – a major task of Golden Harvest’s overall mission.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of this food
distribution,” praised Valerie Landau, Putnam Community Resource Director. “The National Guard and PCOI staff were on-site to assist and could not have been more helpful, polite and cheerful. Golden Harvest Food Bank serves to overcome hunger and assist everyone in leading happy, healthy lives. Our vision is to inspire healthy change, one meal at a time, and that’s exactly what we did.”
Beyond backpack food ministry for kids and a food pantry for the elderly, PCOI also offers life-sustaining medical assistance, utility assistance, clothes and shelter for disaster relief, food assistance for the needy, and so much more. “This mobile food distribution was just one more way that we can serve our community — with caring hands and loving hearts — to make a local impact, which is so important,” said PCOI Executive Director Vanessa Jackson. “We may be a hidden gem in Georgia’s Lake Country, but our impact is wide-spread, and we are excited about expanding that impact by recruiting new volunteers and shoppers at our expansive thrift shop.”
